Spirulina is one of the most concentrated source of natural nutrition known for terrestrial and aquatic animals. It is a green blue, spiral-shaped micro-algae that can reach a great length and are easy to harvest and has been consumed by humans since prehistoric times.

Spirulina are taken for the production of Phycocyanin commercially called "lime-blue" used as a blue dye for food and feed. It is very large number of applications in various industries, but one of potential applications which has gained increasing importance in recent years is its use in pharmaceuticals.
