American flag fish (Jordanella floridae) question! Help please?
my tank is planted Hornwort, Egeria densa, Vallisneria, Echinodorus, and Java moss. currently have (Platy population uncontrollable), 4 zebra danios, 2 Black Neon, 7 red cherry shrimp. Wanting to be SAE and loach kuhli … I intend to have American flag fish as well, but the sites gave different profiles, some say they are hardy, some say they are weak, so I decided to ask people with experience of maintaining of this fish. 1. these guys are peaceful? how do I get? like my 250 liter tank (100×50x50 cm) 2. At what temperature is best to keep 'em? I live in a warm tropical climate, generally, it reaches 28c … 3. I heard they are vegetarians, so they will not hurt shrimp right? 4. any advice or tips you can give me? thank you for the help! >. <
1. I'm not saying they are fish communities, but they are relatively docile … They will stake out a territory and defend it but feebly. In this large tank, you might start at 5-15 and see what happens – some may pair there, in this case, it may be good to remove part of Flagfish other to give the pair more space (especially if you are looking for their race). 2. They are originally from Florida, if the standard tropical temperatures are fine. Everything you have the tank now will do. 3. They are herbivores and do all work to clarify the hair algae. However, they eat also leaved plants, soft as Egeria, invertebrates, such as RCS, and fry as your platform. 4. Maintain clean water and you will be able prevent the most common problems. The water changes are essential, as with all other fish. If you find they take a liking to eating your plants, throwing in some vegetables (cucumber, zucchini, lettuce, spinach, etc.) or algae wafers should at least slow their destruction.
